Born in Syracuse New York, Robert studied at Le Moyne College before settling in the Philippines. He then continued his studies and graduated with a BA degree in History and a degree in International Law at the University of the Philippines.

With over 50 decades of living in the Philippines, he has successfully grown his Silahis Arts & Artifacts business that boasts one of the largest export showrooms in the country that service both large and small orders – from full container loads, partial containers to mail orders. He is also a Commodore at the Philippine Coast Guard, Auxiliary Author of Phil. Basketry an Appreciation, Author of Contributor– 7 Cultural Publications and a past President of the Rotary Club of Intramuros.
