Ricardo Sobreviñas

CHAIRMAN

Rick Sobreviñas is the Chairman of the American Association of the Philippines. His Jesuit education from getting both a high school and university degree in the Ateneo de Manila University molded him into the man he is today: a man for others.

After he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Ateneo, he then proceeded to take an MBA at the University of Pennsylvania. Once he got hold of his graduate degree, his 30-year career in acquisition finance and banking began. He worked for prestigious banks like the Chase Manhattan Bank, and the Manufacturers Hanover Corporation. His in acquisition finance led him to be involved in charity fundraising events. It was then that he realized that one of the greatest joys any man could have is to help other people.

Once he got back to the Philippines, he naturally gravitated towards charity. A chance meeting of his wife with a friend got him connected to the AAP. He then attended the George Washington Ball in 2013. The vision of the AAP to uphold the power of the community by helping fellow Americans and celebrating our shared heritage eventually drew him to be a member of the Board in 2014, then elected President in 2016, and finally became Chairman of the association in 2017.

As Chairman, he has pioneered one of AAP’s grandest fundraisers, the annual Woodstock event. Today, he still believes that the best things you get out of life are through interactions with other people. Relationships determine his quality of life. He continues to allow these relationships to thrive by positioning AAP into an association that promotes and educates the people about the American culture, its impact on the Philippines, and vice versa.
